About this Project
This project delivered critical infrastructure upgrades to enhance airfield safety and weapons training capabilities. The scope included constructing a permanent dangerous cargo pad, a new Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) facility and the Rod and Gun Club with a trap and skeet range. The 160,000 SF dangerous cargo pad features two concrete pads designed to accommodate two C-130 aircraft simultaneously, along with lighting, markings, a 1,000-foot ESQD arc and a 3,000-foot paved taxiway. This new configuration eliminates the need to suspend runway operations during hazardous cargo transfers, significantly improving airfield efficiency and safety.
The new CATM facility includes a 28-lane, 25-meter indoor small arms range, a classroom and an armory to support weapons training and maintenance for on-base airmen. The project also involved relocating the existing CATM and its associated safety fan buffer arc to align with the new site layout, ensuring continued compliance with safety standards while enhancing training capabilities.
